Rui Alexandre Morgadinho had a grin on his face as he raced down the field, almost oblivious to the rain. Many in the crowd felt the referee was being too lenient when he only showed Vendetta's Rémy Larzillière a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind in the 26:th minute. In the 33:th minute a very unfortunate collision in the penalty area led to socceroos's Francesc Xavier Sánchez Saviñón being carried off the pitch and replaced by Lúcio Canela.
