 (257332480)

Clear skies welcomed the 19645 spectators who had made their way to La Morgal. Quinta decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. Lineup: Rossmeistl - Tschofen, Espadalé, Hillberg - Hák, Oostwegel, Buonocore, Soffientini, Labudović - Zugarrondo, Petrović.

socceroos started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. Starters: Alcazaba - Marín Valle, Jones, Pompei - Dekkers, Gazitúa, Moreau, Miholič, Johansson - Kotinurmi, Pfaffenzeller.

The strategy for socceroos on this day was to use their ability to press. Quinta broke through on the left 24 minutes into the game, with Ilija Petrović firing in from an acute angle to give the home side a 1 - 0 lead. Jarkko Hillberg should probably have put his team up another goal after 33 minutes, but some great goalkeeping by Saúl Alcazaba kept the visitors in the game. After 35 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by Cesare Buonocore might have resulted in another goal for Quinta. However, Saúl Alcazaba made a spectacular save. A swift counterattack by socceroos resulted in a free kick that Albert Marín Valle elegantly twisted into the goal - 1 - 1! After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, socceroos's Artur Pfaffenzeller got himself booked. Many in the crowd felt the referee was being too lenient when he only showed Quinta's Francisco Zugarrondo a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 39 minutes into the game. Halftime score was 1 - 1. Quinta enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 64 percent of possession.

socceroos pressed their opponents, causing the game to be a bit of a stalemate at times. Quinta took the lead 58 minutes in, as Francisco Zugarrondo broke through on the left and put the 2 - 1 shot just beyond the reach of the outstretched keeper. With 61 minutes played, Quinta put themselves up 3 - 1 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to Jarkko Hillberg, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home. By now, Quinta were drawing the troops back in order to defend their lead. With 66 minutes played, Quinta's Francisco Zugarrondo tried to nail the coffin shut, but his shot from the left glanced off the top of the bar to fall behind the net. One of many good passes from Mats Johansson at the wing was received and skillfully taken care of by Artur Pfaffenzeller, scoring the 3 - 2 goal for socceroos. A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased Quinta's lead to 4 - 2 as Cesare Buonocore finished it off competently, firing from an acute angle. The bench was restless, and in the 70th minute socceroos's coach gave Jeff Meurant the opportunity the player had been hoping for. Albert Marín Vallereluctantly left the field. socceroos needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 70 minutes Kalle-Matti Kotinurmi made way for Tito Gallard. The socceroos players listened closely to their manager, as he gave new tactical instructions for the team. After 70 minutes, socceroos used a short break in the game to take new instructions from their coach. As the game started to slip away for socceroos, the manager decided to change the tactical approach. Quinta held the ball, with a clear 62 percent of possession.

Quinta's top performer was clearly Cesare BuonocoreKnud Rossmeistl turned in a dismal performance, however. Artur Pfaffenzeller performed admirably for socceroos. On the other hand, Mats Johansson's play was disheartening. The match ends 4 - 2.

socceroos 0 - 0 Quinta

 (257332474)

11015 fans braved the pouring rain at socceroo Arena. socceroos started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. The following players had been chosen: Alcazaba - Pompei, Jones, Marín Valle - Johansson, Bianchi, Moreau, Gazitúa, Dekkers - Pfaffenzeller, Kotinurmi.

A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Quinta. Lineup: Barral - Tschofen, Espadalé, Hillberg - Hák, Oostwegel, Buonocore, Soffientini, Labudović - Zugarrondo, Petrović.

Pressing was the tactic of the day for socceroos. The rain made it hard for players likeAntonín Hák to show their technical control of the ball on this soggy day. Many in the crowd felt the referee was being too lenient when he only showed socceroos's Kees Dekkers a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 17 minutes into the game. Jarkko Hillberg did not have a good day today, often losing his footing on the muddy pitch. socceroos were awarded a penalty after 23 minutes of play, but Albert Marín Valle's shot skimmed just wide. A great pass from the defensive line of Quinta resulted in a counterattack that was smoothly brought under control by Raimon Espadalé in the centre of the opposition's penalty area, but his finish went high. Quinta's Cesare Buonocore was shown a yellow card after 25 minutes for slicing down an opponent. socceroos's ability to press their opponents all over the field paid off frequently. Quinta's Berend Oostwegel was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 31 minutes. 0 - 0 was the score after the first half. Quinta held the ball, with a clear 52 percent of possession.

The muddy pitch made the game a gritty affair, which seemed to suit Kees Dekkers just fine. 65 minutes into the game, Giuliano Bianchi had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came Tito Gallard. 70 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a socceroos substitution. Jeff Meurant came on for Kalle-Matti Kotinurmi. socceroos's talent at pressing frustrated their opponents. The guests almost went up by a goal after 72 minutes when Raimon Espadalé came through and shot from the right. The ball bounced harmlessly off the post, though. This was a good period for the visitors, with several opportunities to take the lead, particularly when Milan Labudović slipped through the defense on the right to come up alone against Saúl Alcazaba, but the home side's keeper showed his lightning reflexes. The forty-five minutes were dominated by Quinta, with an impressive 56 percent possession of the ball.

Most important socceroos player was Artur PfaffenzellerHumberto Oreste Pompei was a disappointment, however. Quinta's best player was Cesare Buonocore. However, Ilija Petrović made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 0 - 0.
