Dark skies made the crowd of 15728 at Pitorra Stadium a little nervous, but the rain held off. kamicazes started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. The following players had been chosen: Omaña - Fellner, Fyhrander, Cordero - Bettella, Georgescu, Pedersen, Dekov, Chunsa - Khampeeranon, Fortner.

socceroos decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. They fielded: Alcazaba - Marín Valle, Jones, Pompei - Johansson, Bianchi, Moreau, Gazitúa, Dekkers - Kotinurmi, Pfaffenzeller.

kamicazes used their ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings. It was obvious that socceroos were using their pressing skill as their primary tactic. kamicazes made it 1-0 as Supachai Chunsa knocked the corner kick to Ulf Pedersen who whipped a low drive in off the far post. With 26 minutes played, kamicazes'sRichard Fortner tried to nail the coffin shut, but his shot from the left glanced off the top of the bar to fall behind the net. The pressing tactics used by socceroos were successful at containing their opponents. kamicazes's George-Daniel Georgescu was shown a yellow card after 38 minutes for slicing down an opponent. Angelo Bettella increased kamicazes's lead to 2 - 0 with a penalty spot cannonball. After this, kamicazes lowered the tempo in order to concentrate on their defensive efforts. 41 minutes were showing on the scoreboard when kamicazes's George-Daniel Georgescu received his second yellow card and was sent off. As the captain was no longer on the pitch, Marko Dekov took over the role of being the kamicazes captain. A counterattack by kamicazes after 43 minutes could have resulted in a goal, but Angelo Bettella, coming in on the left, couldn't get the shot off. The teams went for the halftime break at 2 - 0. kamicazes held the ball, with a clear 52 percent of possession.

After 60 minutes, socceroos used a short break in the game to take new instructions from their coach. kamicazes were given a penalty 69 minutes into the match - neatly put away by Angelo Bettella. 3 - 0 for the home side. After 70 minutes, socceroos switched Albert Marín Valle with José Ezpeleta, hoping for a quick impact on the pitch. socceroos certainly deserved a goal after some stunning play down the left, but Humberto Oreste Pompei just wasn't able to finish. As the game started to slip away for socceroos, the manager decided to change the tactical approach. The bench was restless, and in the 80th minute socceroos's coach gave Domingo Arce Janariz the opportunity the player had been hoping for. Mats Johansson reluctantly left the field. The socceroos captaincy was handed toDomingo Arce JanarizArtur Pfaffenzeller nearly reduced 87 minutes into the game, but a splendid one-handed save by Ricardo Omaña put a stop to the attempt coming in from the right flank. Artur Pfaffenzeller of socceroos received a yellow card after 88 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. Ater 88 minutes José Ezpeleta seized on an opportunistic attack from the right, and scored the reducer for socceroos making it 3 - 1. This half belonged to kamicazes, who controlled the ball 55 percent of the time.

Most important kamicazes player was Marko DekovRicardo Omaña was a disappointment, however. socceroos's best player was Artur PfaffenzellerJosé Ezpeleta turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 3 - 1.
