The crowd of 17337 turning up at Yeeepaaaa Stadium today were greeted with some nasty showers of rain. Eclipse5 decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. Lineup: Besategui - Brambilla, Pozzoni, Vivas - Fernández, Alesanco, Krogstad, Conesa, Monfort - Escudé, Kurkivuori.

socceroos tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination. Starters: Alcazaba - Marín Valle, Pompei, Jones, Meurant - Miholič, Gazitúa, Moreau, Johansson - Pfaffenzeller, Kotinurmi.

It was an obvious ambition of Eclipse5 to use their ability at attacking on the flanks. socceroos used their skill at pressing to cut off the attack angles of their opponents all over the field. socceroos's talent at pressing frustrated their opponents. 8 minutes in, Eclipse5'sMarco Vivas received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. Some quick footwork on the left side of the field 12 minutes into the match left socceroos's Artur Pfaffenzeller completely free to score. 0 - 1 for the visitors. 17 minutes into the game, socceroos worked the left side industriously creating several opportunities to add to their lead, but just couldn't apply the finishing touch. There wasn't much opportunity for rapid movements on this wet day, which hindered Humberto Oreste Pompei in particular. Tiziano Brambilla charged down the left and had a wonderful opportunity to score the equalizer for Eclipse5, but the shot went well wide of the goal. socceroos's Artur Pfaffenzeller was shown a yellow card after 35 minutes for slicing down an opponent. 0 - 1 was the score after the first half. Eclipse5 enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 59 percent of possession.

The bench was restless, and in the 46th minute Eclipse5's coach gave Teo Abarrategui the opportunity the player had been hoping for. Tiziano Brambilla reluctantly left the field. Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Eclipse5's Salvador Fernández was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 46 minutes. Luis Lavínwas given a chance to change things around. socceroos pressed their opponents, causing the game to be a bit of a stalemate at times. Eclipse5's Salvador Conesa put his head to a well placed ball, lifted in from the left, and scored the 1 - 1 goal with 48 minutes showing on the scoreboard clock. The home crowd was not impressed by the fancy moves of socceroos's Jeff Meurant after 69 minutes. He converted a pass from the left for a goal, resulting in the visitors taking the 1 - 2 lead. The socceroos players could smell victory in the air. Albert Marín Valle wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for José Ezpeleta after 70 minutes. The pressing tactics used by socceroos were successful at containing their opponents. The forty-five minutes were dominated by Eclipse5, with an impressive 61 percent possession of the ball.

Most important Eclipse5 player was Jan Krogstad. On the other hand, Salvador Conesa's play was disheartening. socceroos's top performer was clearly Cene Miholič. However, José Ezpeleta made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 1 - 2.
