Witold Truszkowski came in from the right with the intention of giving Rollers the lead, but his rocket of a shot rattled the crossbar. They were singing the praises of Jiri Haapasalo at the 22:th minute after his speculative chip from just outside the centre part of the opponent's penalty area found its way over the visitors keeper to make the score 1 - 0 for Rollers. The referee was not popular with the home supporters after he awarded socceroos a penalty in the 26:th minute. Agripino Caranza made no mistake, levelling the score to 1 - 1. Rollers fans held their breath as Gints Vītolds scampered down the left side. He successfully avoided all challenges and cracked home the go-ahead goal for 2-1! It was 2 - 1 at the break.
