((209559065)

The crowd of 13808 turning up at Calderon today were greeted with some nasty showers of rain. DeRojoyBlanco had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. They fielded: Gadelha - Toullec, Ingrosso, Quesada - Korotun, Røe, González, Oro, Doña - Ryborg, Riátiva.

Pressing was the tactic of the day for socceroos. socceroos's ability to press their opponents all over the field paid off frequently. socceroos's Dorel Corneanu could have put the guests one up after 30 minutes after chasing a through ball from the right, but Aléxio Gadelha was as fast as a snake, grabbing the ball from under his nose. socceroos's talent at pressing frustrated their opponents. It was a bad day for the usually speedy Vincenzo Oro. The mud seemed to slow him down. 42 minutes in, socceroos's Nicolas Moreaureceived a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. The DeRojoyBlanco player who had to be helped off the pitch, was Even Røe as he was unable to finish the game. Xelasio Villameá came in to finish the match. This half belonged to socceroos, who controlled the ball 56 percent of the time.

A drive on the left side allowed socceroos's Héctor Biarge to get in close and score a goal after 59 minutes, leading to 0 - 3. Confident in their lead, socceroos decided to play a more defensive game at this point. Content with how the game was proceeding, the socceroos coach let José Ezpeleta replace Albert Marín Valle after 65 minutes. The socceroos players could smell victory in the air. Artur Pfaffenzeller wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for Kalle-Matti Kotinurmi after 70 minutes. Dorel Corneanu didn't let the weather get him down and made some great moves on the pitch in spite of the rain. DeRojoyBlanco was awarded a penalty 76 minutes into the match and Juan Luis Doña fired the ball into the net for the 1 - 3 goal. The referee showed DeRojoyBlanco's Eneko González the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. The socceroos player who had to be helped off the pitch, was Héctor Biarge as he was unable to finish the game.Giuliano Bianchi came in to finish the match.
