Dark skies made the crowd of 6090 at JoinT arena a little nervous, but the rain held off. marley started off with a 4-4-2 lineup. They fielded: Vial - Pintado, Eguía, Gormaz, Arandia - Alcaraz Casademunt, Salinas Mila, Molins, Recasens - Abolafio, Eume.

socceroos tactics involved an interesting 3-4-3 combination. Starters: Alcazaba - Marín Valle, Corneanu, Pompei - Johansson, Olofsson, Moreau, Jespersson - Marcu, Kotinurmi, Pfaffenzeller.

socceroos was clearly looking ahead to the next match rather than focusing on the one at hand. socceroos took the lead after 10 minutes with 0 - 1. Kalle-Matti Kotinurmi placed the ball out of reach for the home side's keeper after a fine move, coming in from the left. Many in the crowd felt the referee was being too lenient when he only showed socceroos'sConstantin Marcu a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 10 minutes into the game. A drive on the left side allowed socceroos's Mats Jespersson to get in close and score a goal after 13 minutes, leading to 0 - 2. After this, socceroos lowered the tempo in order to concentrate on their defensive efforts. marley's Alberto Pintado got himself booked for a foul. After 32 minutes marley's Raimundo Recasens contracted a slight foot injury, but could finish the game. Constantin Marcu remonstrated furiously with the referee after socceroos had another decision go against them. The referee had no alternative but to show him another yellow card and send him from the pitch. A well placed corner kick from Alberto Pintado was followed by Salva Eume's hard but accurate header. The nice combination marked a goal for marley, the score now 1-2. marley's Jaime Salinas Milaalmost tied things up with 35 minutes played after breaking through on the right, but his shot deflected off the post. It was 1 - 2 at the break. marley held the ball, with a clear 51 percent of possession.

The coach of socceroos was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 46 minutes, Serafín González came on for Artur Pfaffenzeller. The socceroos players could smell victory in the air. Nicolas Moreau wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for Aapo Suokko after 46 minutes. With 52 minutes played, socceroos put themselves up 1 - 3 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was Kalle-Matti Kotinurmi. marley's Alejandro Alcaraz Casademunt left the field after 57 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was Èric Vila. Content with how the game was proceeding, the socceroos coach let Francesc Xavier Sánchez Saviñón replace Albert Marín Valle after 70 minutes. The game was a stalemate so far, with possession split evenly between the teams.



Most important marley player was Joaquín Abolafio. Manuel Gormaz turned in a dismal performance, however. Kalle-Matti Kotinurmi performed admirably for socceroos. Francesc Xavier Sánchez Saviñón turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 1 - 3.
