11406 spectators arrived at socceroo Arena, where weather conditions were pretty good for football.

socceroos had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. The following players took the field: Alcazaba - Marín Valle, Trãistaru, Ezpeleta - Johansson, Olofsson, Caranza, Oud, Irlius - Barro, González.

huguito tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination. They fielded: Siloniz - Escuer, Calcina, Saavedra Guzmán, Bars - Balanyà, Foga, Gutiérrez, Reine - Puig, Valdés.

After 7 minutes of play, Fredrik Irlius gave the home team a 1 - 0 lead after an attack coming in from the right. The referee showed huguito's Gerónimo Foga the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Serafín González increased socceroos's lead to 2 - 0, putting a header away on a hooked ball from the right. One of many good passes from Mats Johansson at the wing was received and skillfully taken care of by Fredrik Irlius, scoring the 3 - 0 goal for socceroos. Confident in their lead, socceroos decided to play a more defensive game at this point. A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased socceroos's lead to 4 - 0 as Serafín González finished it off competently, firing from an acute angle. Cheers filled the stadium as Agripino Caranza broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the 5 - 0 goal for socceroos. The home side's Benedicto Barro came close to extending the lead in the 34:th minute. His shot came in on the right hand side but Alberto Siloniz managed to save it by a fingernail.
5 - 0 was the halftime score. socceroos enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 78 percent of possession.

socceroos solidified their lead at the 57 minute mark, as Serafín González manoeuvered the ball through the opposing central defence and finished for 6 - 0. At that, Serafín González was noted down for a hat trick. After an industrious effort down the middle, Albert Marín Valle could have closed the game off in the 80:th minute, but his finishing shot hit the post. Things were deteriorating for the away team as socceroos scored another to make it 7 - 0 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for Fredrik Irlius after 83 minutes. By then Fredrik Irlius was a three time scorer - a hat trick! Many in the crowd felt the referee was being too lenient when he only showed socceroos's Mats Johansson a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind in the 86:th minute. socceroos added another goal to their lead as Serafín González struck home the 8 - 0 goal after an attack from the left set him up unmarked in front of the keeper. Xavier Bars of huguito was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle.

socceroos claimed to be the more dominant force in the game, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 84 percent.

socceroos's best player was Serafín González. Saúl Alcazaba was a disappointment, however. Most important huguito player was Óscar Puig. Pere Balanyà turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 8 - 0.
