It was an exceptionally sunny day for the crowd of 11464 that came out to Bd FC Arena. A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Bd. They fielded: Eckrodt - Žauneriūnas, Ruiz, Fontalquer, Stoilov - Fagúndez, Cipolla, Mendes, Sève - Oña, da Pontenova.

socceroos decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. Lineup: Alcazaba - Marín Valle, Jones, Pompei - Dekkers, Gazitúa, Moreau, Fois, Johansson - Meurant, Pfaffenzeller.

Bd were relying on their ability to counter-attack. socceroos took the lead after 6 minutes with 0 - 1. Artur Pfaffenzeller placed the ball out of reach for the home side's keeper after a fine move, coming in from the left. With 8 minutes played, the excellent ball from the wing by Bd's Dylan Sève reached Norberto da Pontenova's head, and he is not one to miss such an opportunity - 1 - 1. socceroos had several good opportunities to take the lead, especially 9 minutes in when Jeff Meurant came up alone against Sylvester Eckrodt who managed a block. Almost all the way down to the corner flag, Bd's Dylan Sève somehow managed to get a perfect pass into the middle, impossible to miss for Ioritz Oña, who struck for 2 - 1. Some brilliant football from the visitors' right wing resulted in a levelling of the score as socceroos's Jeff Meurant put the ball in the net after 29 minutes to make it 2 - 2. Mauro Cebreiros was called on to replace Bd's Dylan Sève after 33 minutes following a nasty collision. The visiting Mats Johansson was booed thoroughly by the home crowd 37 minutes into the game, after he broke through the middle and scored, resulting in the visitors taking the lead. 2 - 3 was the score. It was 2 - 3 at the break. socceroos claimed to be the more dominant force in the game, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 58 percent.

Bd's Iker Ruiz put his head to a well placed ball, lifted in from the left, and scored the 3 - 3 goal with 47 minutes showing on the scoreboard clock. socceroos's Kees Dekkers was shown a yellow card after 51 minutes for slicing down an opponent. The home crowd breathed a collective sigh of relief when Albert Marín Valle was unable to give the visitors the go-ahead goal after his attack from the left 69 minutes into the match. After 70 minutes, the socceroos coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving Albert Marín Valle off the field. José Ezpeleta took his place. Good work by Bd's defensive line produced a couple of good counterattack chances, one of which cut elegantly down the middle of the pitch and found Óscar Mendes alone in front of the goal, but his shot whistled just wide. 73 minutes in, Bd's Óscar Mendes received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. 75 minutes into the game, Kees Dekkers almost gave the visitors the lead, as he clipped a delicate lob over the keeper, but the ball glanced harmlessly off the crossbar. Although the counter attack was halted by the defenders, Bd were given a free kick 76 minutes into the game. Rather than shooting straight at goal, it was directed at the area just in front of the keeper. The attackers made several runs and made it hard for the defenders to protect their goal. After a short tussle with a defender, Norberto da Pontenova could finally lay the ball to rest behind the keeper. 4 - 3, and proof it can pay off to come prepared. The socceroos players listened closely to their manager, as he gave new tactical instructions for the team. Humberto Oreste Pompei wasn't much help defensively. His energy-consuming forward runs proved quite costly in the oppressive heat. An equalising goal seemed certain after 80 minutes when José Ezpeleta came down the left side, but Sylvester Eckrodt just managed the save. 81 minutes into the match the visitors levelled the score at 4 - 4 asArtur Pfaffenzeller struck home from a rebound off the crossbar, following a shot from the right. socceroos enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 57 percent of possession.

Most important Bd player was Nicola Cipolla. Mauro Cebreiros was a disappointment, however. socceroos's top performer was clearly Artur Pfaffenzeller. Humberto Oreste Pompei turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 4 - 4.
