Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 12578 to la urba stadium. urba started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. The following players had been chosen: Badenes - Esvelt, Verlangen, Hombedeu - Ulfke, Prymus, Schwebach, Zamfirescu, Dauphin - Eskisabel, Vasilescu.

socceroos tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. Starters: Alcazaba - Marín Valle, Jones, Pompei - Johansson, Gazitúa, Fois, Bianchi, Dekkers - Meurant, Pfaffenzeller.

socceroos was determined to use their long shot ability. urba took the lead 8 minutes in, asIulian Vasilescu broke through on the left and put the 1 - 0 shot just beyond the reach of the outstretched keeper. urba had to make a substitution after 13 minutes. Bolesław Prymus limped off the field and was replaced by José Aybar. 14 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as Iulian Vasilescu dashed through, knocking home 2 - 0 for urba. A corner kick created great disorder in the penalty area with a goal nearly scored by Rodger Schwebach. At last, urba's Amezti Eskisabel was able to shove the ball in. 3-0. Things were going to get worse for the visitors. José Aybar squirmed himself through their central defence after 20 minutes, bringing the lead to 4 - 0. At this point in the game, defending their lead became the main priority for urba. 22 minutes into the match, socceroos replied and reduced the lead to 4 - 1. Giuliano Bianchi scored on a marvellous cross pass coming in from the left. A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in urba's Amezti Eskisabel putting the lead up to 5 - 1. urba solidified their lead at the 31 minute mark, as Amezti Eskisabel manoeuvered the ball through the opposing central defence and finished for 6 - 1. This third goal made a hat trick for Amezti Eskisabel. 6 - 1 was the score after the first half. The forty-five minutes were dominated by urba, with an impressive 52 percent possession of the ball.

A great save by keeper Saúl Alcazaba after 51 minutes kept the visitors in the game afterRodger Schwebach struck from the left with a real cannonball. As the game started to slip away for socceroos, the manager decided to change the tactical approach. The home crowd was silenced as Albert Marín Valle took a successful penalty shot 68 minutes into the game, reducing the home lead to 6 - 2. George Zamfirescu increased urba's lead to 7 - 2 with a penalty spot cannonball. Many in the crowd felt the referee was being too lenient when he only showed urba's Constancio Hombedeu a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 72 minutes into the game. After 75 minutes, socceroos raised their score by one when Mats Johansson's dangerous low cross was cleverly tucked in at the near post by Artur Pfaffenzeller. 7 - 3. The home team's fans were upset when, after 76 minutes, the visiting Jeff Meurant broke through the central defence and kicked the ball past the keeper. 7 - 4 was the score. socceroos's Humberto Oreste Pompei got himself booked for a foul. urba held the ball, with a clear 51 percent of possession.

urba's top performer was clearly Iulian Vasilescu. However, Quentin Dauphin made a disastrous appearance. The most dominating socceroos player was without a doubtNemesio Gazitúa. On the other hand, Albert Marín Valle's play was disheartening. The match ends 7 - 4.
